TOO CONVENIENT

Awareness and consequences in Virtual Reality.

Too Convenient explores the hidden cost of convenience through the lens of everyday coffee culture. Set in a world where single-serve capsules have become the norm, the project questions the environmental impact behind their clean, luxurious image.

Using virtual reality, the work immerses users in the cycle of consumption, recycling, and greenwashing by inviting reflection on personal responsibility versus corporate narrative.

Process

Developed within the Climate in Balance: Earth Project, the idea began with research on climate communication and consumer behavior. Greenwashing emerged as the central theme by evealing how brands sell sustainability while masking waste.

Through scenario mapping, Future Wheel analysis, and interaction prototyping, multiple directions were explored: from investigative “corporate offices” to tactile recycling experiences.

The final concept focused on a VR environment centered around the coffee capsule, visualizing the environmental consequences of everyday choices. An eye-tracking study later evaluated how users perceived sustainability cues and decision points within the experience.
